XVII Artistic Festival of Academic Youth FAMA

The poster promotes the 17th Artistic Festival of Academic Youth FAMA, held in July 1987 in Świnoujście and organized by the Polish Students’ Association. The artwork was created by Henryk Sawka, who designed a grotesque illustration depicting a drifting raft full of artists, musicians, and eccentric characters. At its center stands a white sail with the inscription “FAMA ’87,” beneath which unfolds a colorful, satirical spectacle. The scene is filled with humorous references to academic culture, the absurdity of the Polish People’s Republic, and maritime iconography. Sawka’s signature style—recognizable, gently mocking, and sketch-like—gives the piece the character of a pastiche and cheerful anarchy.
